In the early hours of January 15, the NGO Paraíso dos Focinhos received a worrying report about a dog in desperate need. A compassionate lady, on her way to work, discovered the poor dog, visibly weak and unable to stand or eat. Despite not being able to transport the sick dog, she documented the heartbreaking scene with photos and a short video, asking the NGO Paraíso dos Focinhos for help.
Moved by the dog’s plea, expressed through a weak movement of its tail, the rescue team acted quickly. When they arrived at the scene, they found the dog in significant discomfort and seriously dehydrated. Recognizing the urgency, they performed a blood test which revealed the need for a blood transfusion due to the dog’s inability to eat properly.
With dedicated care, the resilient dog, now named Dega, began to show signs of improvement. In just a few days, he gained four pounds, although standing and walking remained a challenge. As the weeks passed, Dega’s strength gradually recovered and his appetite improved on the seventh day.
Three months after his rescue, Dega underwent a remarkable transformation. Although his legs were still in the process of healing, he had come a long way from the fragile dog discovered that fateful morning. The time had come for a happy reunion with the compassionate lady he had initially found and sought help for Dega.
