A pup wandered the streets of India alone, with a wire noose stuck around his neck. He was only days, maybe even hours, away from death – until he got his second chance.
Rescuers from Animal Aid Unlimited in India found the terrified dog and were able to catch him even though he kept dodging their attempts. The poor boy was in so much pain that everything scared him, but his rescuers knew that his only chance of survival was getting him medical attention.
The wire wrapped around the dog’s mouth was cutting off his circulation, causing a huge amount of swelling in his head.
After sedating him, rescuers were able to cut off the wire, which they discovered was buried into his neck extremely deep.
It’s amazing this dog survived for as long as he did.
Due to the extent of his injuries, this dog’s road to recovery was not a quick one. Animal Aid Unlimited filmed his recovery process every few days, starting at the very beginning, when his head was still swollen.
His wound had to be constantly cleaned, or else he could have been at risk for infection.
Slowly, the swelling in his head began to go down …
… and the cut on his neck got less and less critical.
Until, finally, the dog who may have only had hours to live was completely healed. It took 38 days, but his rescuers never gave up on him, and thanks to them he gets the chance to be a normal dog again.
