According to Chia Cetral Televisio (CCTV), a fisherman in the eastern Chinese province of Fυjia caught a “sea monster” up to 4.5 m long and weighing two tons.

The fisherman above is called Cai Chegzh. When asked what he would do with his “trophy,” Mr. Chegzh replied hopefully: “I hope to sell it for around 10,000-20,000 yυa.”

According to marine biologists, the “sea monster” Mr. Chegzh captured may be a whale shark. If it is correctly identified as a whale shark, Mr. Chegzh will not be able to sell it because, under Chinese law, whale sharks are off the list of animals that need protection.

Whale sharks are considered the most beautiful of the shark family. They usually live in deep, warm waters and only eat plakto.

In February 2012, a fisherman in the fishing port of Karachi, Pakistan, also discovered a whale shark more than 12 m long and weighing 6 to 7 tons.

He was towed to the Karachi fishing port after being found dead in Arabian waters 10 days ago.
