One-eyed albino cyclops shark explained. The so-called cyclops shark was one of 10 fetus pups found inside a pregnant bull or dusky shark landed by commercial fishermen off La Paz, Mexico, in 2011. After the catch, scientist Felipe Galván-Magana authored a paper in which he described cyclopia as “a rare congenital malformation, resulting from the division of the embryonic brain that leads to fusion of the eyes to form a single, central eye.”

But it isn’t known for its albino sturgeon. “A biologist phoned me and said they have never seen anything like it, and neither have I,” Helmer said in an email.
