The cubs were found buried under loose soil as it slid, trapped in a dangerous situation. Her mother’s desperate cries echoed through the air, a plea for help that could not be ignored.
Soner Büyümez, a veterinarian working on a remote farm in Turkey, was drawn to the sound of distress in the distance earlier this week. The screams were urgent, a heartbreaking call for help.
“I immediately ran to the area,” Büyümez said. “A landslide had occurred. I saw a dog that was stuck in the ground. Only his head remained above the ground.”
The dog was in agonizing pain, but as Büyümez would soon discover, she wasn’t just worried about her own situation.
“When I saw it for the first time, it was incredibly sad,” Büyümez said.
He knew immediate action was necessary. Without hesitation, Büyümez grabbed a shovel and started digging.
As he carefully unearthed the trapped dog, he heard another sound, faint but distinct.
“I heard the cries of the puppies,” Büyümez said. “They were underground.”
Once the first dog was rescued safely, Büyümez began digging once again to reach the buried puppies, ensure their safety, and reunite them with their anxious mother.
To his mother’s immense relief, Büyümez successfully rescued seven cubs who had been buried alive when their underground tunnel collapsed.
Thanks to Büyümez’s quick thinking and compassion, the furry family was now safe and sound.
Büyümez believes the dog mother may have been a stray, forced to fend for herself under such dire circumstances. However, she and her children will no longer be alone.
“Its general condition is excellent,” said Büyümez. “The mother and her cubs are safe. I will take care of them as if they were my own.”
