Rescue Amidst Tragedy: Discovering the Abandoned Dog Amongst Carcasses, Bearing Numerous Serious Injuries from Fierce Battles. tm

A bait dog, discovered among animal carcasses in the rural woods of South Carolina, is making a remarkable recovery, all thanks to the dedicated care provided by his rescuers.

Rambo was initially found by a member of Every Life Matters Animal Rescue, barely clinging to life. He had suffered severe bite wounds all over his body, a clear indication that he had been used as bait in dog fights before being discarded and left to die.

He was rushed to emergency veterinary care and, for a time, his survival was at stake. He is currently in the attentive care of Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency (CARE), and after a month and a half of kind, loving care, Rambo is beginning to value his life.

Despite the medical team’s efforts to save his hind limbs, the extent of the infection and injuries required the amputation of both hind legs.

Since he arrived at CARE, he has received a lot of love.

It also received great support from dog lovers around the world.

Although he no longer has his back legs, veterinarians have a positive outlook that with more skin graft surgeries, Rambo will be able to support his weight on the remaining pieces.

CARE shared on Facebook: “Given your ability to support weight so effectively without implants or prosthetics, we have refocused on developing padding fabric on your underside, ensuring you have a solid surface to walk on.”

Meanwhile, Rambo got a wheelchair to get around and is learning how to use it pretty quickly. In his free time he loves to give kisses.

And now he has a foster family who takes care of him.

It reportedly went very well,” CARE wrote in a Facebook update. “He spent a lot of time snuggling with other dogs.”
